CNC Bending Machine Operators

January 31, 2020

The act of metal bending is a diverse and complex fabricating process. It is crucial that the machines are operated correctly, techniques are applied flawlessly, and artistic touch is incorporated. CNC bending machine operators are responsible for the three items listed above in order to navigate the complex technical machinery and successfully bend metal according to work orders and templates. The majority of CNC bending machine operators have completed training in the steel or metal industry and can effectively read engineered drawings and designs.

Some of the responsibilities of a CNC bending machine operator include:

  • Machine setup
  • Clamping and aligning workpieces
  • Quality control
  • Conducting service and maintenance on the machines.

An endless variety of finished pieces are fabricated by metal bending including everything from handheld parts to pieces more than 20 feet in length. Both standardized and custom tools are used during the fabrication process and therefore, a CNC bending machine operator must be familiar and highly trained on both with a keen eye for detail.

There are numerous institutions that offer metal fabricating-related training, and many have a specialized focus on CNC metal bending. Courses can be adapted and performed on your in-house machines, conferences can be attended, and many institutions offer open houses for attendees to learn about becoming a CNC bending machine operator.

At VeriForm we offer a diverse and complex assortment of metal bending services. We have over $1 million dollars in tools and machines in order to accommodate all of our clients’ requests. We also are proud to have a team composed of highly skilled and qualified CNC bending machine operators. Our team is what makes our company great and we strongly believe that investing in their education and growth results in improved product quality and overall customer satisfaction. Whether you are a client that requires our service, or an individual looking to start or expand on a new career path, please feel encouraged to contact VeriForm today.

We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season spent with friends and family to close out the decade. 2019 was a year great filled with growth, development and success. Many positive experiences and milestones took place for VeriForm in 2019. A few of our favourite moments include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Celebrating 23 years in business as leaders in the metal fabrication industry.
  2. Showcasing VeriForms energy-saving initiatives to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine Mckenna, and MPs Marwan Tabbara, Raj Saini and Bryan May.
  3. Continuing VeriForm’s involvement with community events and organizations such as Mayor’s Souper Sampler (Meals on Wheels and More Programs) and Taco Fest. Our support helped provide the
community with the recognition needed to continue to meet the growing demand in the Waterloo Region for practical services that help seniors and adults living with disabilities.

Veriform has manufactured custom parts for mining, forestry and machine building sectors. No matter the client requirements – precision plasma cutting, bending, rolling, welding – VeriForm’s CNC machining is innovative, modern, and always up to the task.

VeriForm is excited to keep pursuing our journey of continuous improvement and we can’t wait to see what this new year brings. Giving Back To Our Community This Holiday

December 12, 2019

The Holidays are filled with love, joy and giving. VeriForm welcomes you to this Yuletide season by encouraging you to reflect upon your community contributions.

For the past six years, VeriForm has been in an active partnership with Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More, a local charitable organization that provides a range of services helping people live at home with independence and dignity. From personal visits and security calls to home maintenance and snow removal, CSC provides a variety of services to lessen feelings of loneliness, isolation, and dependence while strengthening confidence and independence.

In addition, VeriForm also supports The Suzuki String School of Guelph, a school committed to creating sustainability; as it permits as many children as possible, regardless of socioeconomic situations, to develop confident and well-rounded personalities through music education. The school’s dedication to encouraging self-sustained communities in the Guelph and Wellington region attracted VeriForm’s President, Paul Rak.

Paul is a pragmatic visionary and distinguished businessman. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Western Ontario and went further to study Business Management and Quality at the University of Waterloo. Paul remains a frequent speaker on topics pertaining to the sustainability of businesses and the various benefits of going green. Paul’s passion for music and charity lead him to The Suzuki String School of Guelph, where he serves as the Chair of the institute’s fundraising committee.

VeriForm remains a distinguished sponsor of Community Support Connections as well as The Suzuki String School of Guelph and consistently donates to each organization. It’s a company devoted to creating synergy and sustainability in the community.

VeriForm strives to give back as much as possible while encouraging others to do so as well, especially during the holiday season.

VeriForm's Success With Sustainability

November 30, 2019

VeriForm’s success in reducing its carbon footprint has not gone unnoticed, with a recent feature in Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Since 2006, VeriForm has been committed to greater sustainability in manufacturing. This drive has been successful, as VeriForm has reduced its emissions by 77.1% – this means a drop from 262 tonnes of greenhouse gases (GHG) yearly to only 60 tonnes per year.

Reducing the negative impact on the environment has allowed VeriForm to also direct greater efforts towards growing the business and raising profits. The plant is now 128% larger, going from 11,800 sq. ft to 26,000 sq. ft. The sales per unit of energy has more than tripled from $6.12/kWh to $19.55/kWh. All of this has allowed VeriForm to hire 30% more staff, improving production levels and more than doubling profits.

The greatest factor in VeriForm’s success story is the sheer number of energy reduction and process improvement projects implemented over the course of the past thirteen years. The count is now over 100 projects, with the first 37 projects resulting in a fantastic payback period over 6 months. Some examples of these projects include:

  • Replacing paper towels with super hand dryers
  • Printing multiple pages per sheet
  • Replacing current lights with more energy-efficient lights
  • Installing tamper-resistant programmable plant thermostats
  • Wire heating disconnects on doors to turn off the heat when doors open
  • Halting purchases of plastic cutlery and dishes
  • Installing motion-activated lights
  • Improving and adding insulation in walls around windows
  • Consolidating garbage bins, improving access to recycling and using permanent bags rather than plastic

The success of these projects has resulted not only in a reduction in carbon emissions and waste but also in hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings for the company. It is no surprise that VeriForm’s sustainability efforts are being acknowledged on a national level. VeriForm has always been committed to excellence and improving the company by passing on the savings to the customer – here’s to many more years of successful sustainability!

Community Support Connections

November 8, 2019

Being active in the community is highly important to VeriForm as the community is what builds strength and prosperity for our neighbourhoods. To be a part of the community means constantly being present and offering a helping hand where needed.

VeriForm has been a proud sponsor of the Community Support Connections event called Mayor’s Souper Sampler (Meals on Wheels and More Programs) for the last 6 years. The event is held at Cambridge City Hall proudly raising nearly $7,500 in support.

Similar to that event, VeriForm sponsors the Meals on Wheels Tacofest event every summer donating about $1,780 to the event. The support VeriFom provides to these events provides the community with the recognition and support it needs while the success of the event ensures that the community can continue to meet the growing demand in the Waterloo Region for practical services that help seniors and adults living with disabilities in the homes they love.

Of course, the success of these events could not be made possible without sponsors and the pull of the community itself.  VeriForm feels strongly in their support and confidence in our communities and strives to give back as much as possible and encourages others to do the same.
